UI is the only tertiary institution in Nigeria where postgraduate students outnumbers the undergraduates applicants yearly. It is not a coincidence, the school intentionally gives PG applicants more quota than undergraduate applicants into UI.

Therefore all students who have successfully completed their first degree in any of the recognized university, polytechnics or any other tertiary institution in Nigeria and wants to further their education by acquiring a postgraduate degree are hereby advised to go through the approved UI (PG) postgraduate school fees schedule before payment is made as each PG programme comes with their various fees.

UI prospective postgraduate students are therefore advised to read through to get all vital information needed in paying their fees on time.

The university of Ibadan postgraduate school has revealed that late payment would attract extra an extra fee and failure to pay the fees within the stipulated period could lead to the student’s inability to seat for their respective semester examinations.

UI Postgraduate School Fees Schedule For New Students 2020/2021 Academic  Session

All freshly admitted students of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo state postgraduate school are advised to pay their tuition fees for the 2020/2021 academic session early to the designated banks as approved by the school management.

UI PG Acceptance Fee for 2020/2021 was recently reviewed and it is now 20,400 Naira for all newly admitted PG students.

UI postgraduate School fees for M.Sc programme is between 120 -170k per session depending on department and half payment for returning M.Sc students. This is the average UI PG school fees is, though the difference in other programmes could be just 2,000 or 3,000 naira more or less. Nevertheless, It is most likely to remain the same until next year (2021)

Newly admitted students from Faculty of the Social Sciences, from other universities pay N132,200 as School Fees (EXCLUDING hostel accommodation fee) compared to their alumni (New PG students that graduated from UI) in the same Department that pay N127,000 as PG tuition fee.

The above privilege they given to the Unibadan alumni. So if you are an ex student of UI you ca enjoy this benefit but you would have to prove this by presenting your degree Matriculation Number during the postgraduate application registration process.

Non alumni (newly admitted PG students from other universities) will pay a higher tuition fees of about N5,000 to N10,000 difference.

In your Third and final Semester, you will pay 1/2 of the amount of school fees you first paid a newly admitted student.

Please note that some programmes pay as high as 400,000 – 500,000 Naira per session, the above is the average UI postgraduate school fees. This would help when planning your budget for the your PG school expenses.


You are 2 spend 3 semesters for those applying for MSc/MA,this school fees only covers for the first 2 semesters,you are expected to pay for the 3rd semester too. (which is half of what you paid on the initial 1st year).
