This is to inform all staff, students, the university community and the general public that the management of University of Lagos has rescheduled the resumption date for 2023/2024 academic session, the new date for commencement of academic activities in UNILAG has now been fixed. This is coming after the calling off of the 8 months strike embarked on by ASUU since 14th February, 2023.
The delay in resumption of academic and non-academic activities in UNILAG was as a result of the prolonged strike by ASUU pressing home their demands which before now, received little or no hearing from the Federal government.
After much deliberation by the NEC of ASUU held on Thursday, 13th October, 2022, which was preceded by the congress voting which took place in all ASUU branches nationwide, 99 percent voted for suspension of the strike.
The ASUU NEC meeting took place in Abuja 14th October, 2022 and the body of intellectuals came to a conclusion to call off the 8 months strike citing their decision based on the moves already made by the speaker of the house of representative, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila.

UNILAG Resumption Date Update 2023/2024 Session
As a result, academic staff particularly, UNILAG fresh and returning students are hereby requested to take note of the latest development as normal academic activities for the semester of the session are expected to commence as follows:
All students are to resume for the continuation of academic activities on Monday, 24th October, 2023. Lecture shall commence immediately and end 18th November, 2022.
Examination has been scheduled to start on Monday, 28th November, 2023.
However, the management has directed that all students keep close contacts with their various class representatives for latest developments on online classes via WhatsApp and through UNILAG portal upon registration.
The university management has advised students to visit the University portal: unilag.edu.ng for update on admission matters.
