The Airforce Institute of Technology Kaduna (AFIT) Pre-HND, HND and PGD admission application form for 2021/2022 academic session has been released therefore applications are currently being received from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following under-listed programmes.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Air Force Institute of Technology is a higher education institution engaged in imparting knowledge and skills on students using specialized facilities and multi-disciplinary approach; a centre of excellence for serious innovative research and development in aerospace, aeronautical, aviation and allied industries/disciplines.

Admissions into programmes offered in the Institute are open to the general public. Traditionally, admission into the Institute is through the JAMB UTME entry route. However, admissions could also be gained through direct entry into any of the Institute’s programmes other than the National Diploma programmes. To this end, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for preliminary and direct entry admissions into the following programmes in the 2021/2022 Academic Session

Logistics and Supply Chain Management

The Pre-HND in Aircraft Engineering Technology Programme is a one-year orientation course specifically designed for candidates with ND in engineering fields other than aircraft engineering. The programme is meant to introduce students to aircraft engineering and also provide a good foundation for such students to further their studies in aviation-related programmes. Similarly, other Pre-HND programmes are aimed at appropriate re-orientation as the case may be.

The PGD in Aerospace Engineering at AFIT is a one-year programme that is specially designed to prepare candidates for one-year MSc programme in aerospace engineering at Cranfield University, United Kingdom (UK). Candidates, who on completion of the PGD programme, wish to enrol for the Masters Programme at Cranfield University, UK can choose to specialize in one of the following fields:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates seeking admission into AFIT’s ND programmes are required to write JAMB UTME examination. Those intending to pursue Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes would be offered direct entry admission if they meet the entry requirements.

The entry requirements for programmes offered in AFIT are as detailed below:

National Diploma (ND) Programme – Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology and Explosive Ordnance Technology.

(1) JAMB UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFIT’s post-JAMB UTME screening.

(2) Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with at least credit passes in 5 subjects in not more than 2 sittings. The subjects must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and one other subject from Additional Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Auto-Mechanics and Metal Work, Statistics, Geography and Biology.

National Diploma (ND) Programme – Business Administration and Management.
(1) JAMB UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFIT’s post-JAMB UTME screening.

(2) Candidates should possess a minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with 5 credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects from Economics, Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Government, Statistics, Geography, Agricultural Science, and Biology.

Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND) Programmes.
(1) ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/|Electronic Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Material Science Engineering or Business Administration and Management (as applicable) and;

(2) A minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience.

(3) In exceptional cases, a candidate with ND at pass level (CGPA of 2.0-2.49) who has 2 or more years of post-ND cognate work experience may be considered for admission into the Pre-HND programme.

Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes.
(1) ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/|Electronics Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Material Science Engineering or Business Administration and Management (as applicable) and;

(2) A minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience.

Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in Aerospace Engineering.
A minimum grade of Second Class Honours in Engineering, Material Sciences or Physics.

Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in Supply Chain Management.
A minimum grade of Second Class Honours in Purchasing & Supply and other related fields.

PROCEDURE FOR DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES

For a successful application, direct entry candidates are expected to complete two basic steps below:

Payment via e-Bills Pay.

How To Apply for AFIT Admission Form 2021/2022 Academic Session

  1. Candidates should visit any branch of commercial banks, request for Air Force Institute of Technology on e-Bills Pay and specify the appropriate programme (Pre-HND, HND or PGD) to make payment.
  2. Pre-HND and HND/PGD candidates are to pay N4, 000.00 and N5, 000.00 respectively with the required bank charges.
  3. After payment, the bank teller will give a printout of the Session ID, which would be required to proceed with the online registration.
  4. Having been assigned a Session ID by the bank, candidates should visit AFIT website (http://www.afit.edu.ng)
  5. Click on the ‘Direct Entry Registration’ link.
  6. Insert the Session ID obtained from the bank, email, phone number
  7. Upload your passport and select the course applicable to you (Pre-HND, HND or PGD)
  8. Click on the SUBMIT button.
  9. After the display of “record inserted correctly” message,
  10. Click the “resume registration” button to continue the application.
  11. On the registration form, candidates should fill in their bio-data and other relevant information (post-secondary information, employment history) as required on the page and continue.
  12. (Note: The candidate’s phone number is his/her identity on the portal. Therefore, it is important to provide a valid phone number).
  13. Thereafter, candidates should upload the necessary documents (e.g. degree/ND certificates and passport photograph) as required on the page. Proceed further to print your Photo Card for a successful application.
  14. The Photo Card contains candidates’ basic identity information and would be required for confirmation of application for admission into the Institute

PROCEDURE FOR ND PROGRAMMES CANDIDATES

For a successful application, ND candidates are expected to complete two basic registration processes as stated and explained below:

Payment via e-Bills Pay.

Admission Screening Bio-Data Registration.

  1. ND candidates should visit any branch of commercial banks and request for e-Bills Pay in respect of Air Force Institute of Technology ND programme and make payment of the sum of N3,100.00 plus the required bank charges.
  2. After payment, the bank teller will provide a printout of Session ID, which is required to proceed with online registration
  3. Having been assigned a Session ID by the bank, candidates should visit AFIT website (http://www.afit.edu.ng) and click on the ‘AFIT ND Admission Screening’ link.
  4. Insert the Session ID obtained from the bank, email, phone number, upload your passport and select the programme category applicable to you (National Diploma)
  5. Click submit. After the display of “record inserted correctly” message, click “resume registration” to continue the application.
  6. Having completed the steps above, candidates should enter their bio-information, SSCE/GCE/NECO results, JAMB score, etc.
  7. Thereafter candidates should upload their passport photographs which should not be more than 30KB in size. The size of such uploaded picture will be validated against this requirement. Therefore, candidates should ensure compliance.
  8. After the successful upload of pictures, candidates should proceed to print their Photo Cards. The Photo Cards contain candidates’ basic identity information and would be required for participation in the post- JAMB UTME screening and for confirmation of application for admission into the Institute.

AFIT POST- JAMB UTME SCREENING

ND candidates who selected AFIT as first choice and scored above the Institute’s cut-off marks would be invited for post-UTME screening in AFIT, Kaduna. The cut-off marks for various programmes will be displayed on the institute’s website once decided. Details of the screening, which includes an examination, would be communicated to eligible candidates at the appropriate time via SMS.

CLOSURE OF APPLICATIONS FOR ADMISSION

Application deadline is yet to be announced. Successful candidates would be contacted via SMS and also published on the Institute’s website at the appropriate time.
