Port Harcourt, Nigeria — The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) which previously announced a postponement of the highly anticipated Freshers’ Orientation Program originally scheduled to hold on Sunday, January 21, 2025 has now fixed the date for the ceremony.
According to the statement, the postponement was necessary to ensure the proper organization and delivery of the orientation program, which is critical for welcoming and familiarizing new students with the university’s operations, policies, and academic culture. While specific reasons for the delay were not disclosed, university officials cited “logistical considerations” as a key factor.
The orientation is a tradition at UNIPORT, aimed at guiding freshers in settling into the academic environment and fostering a sense of belonging within the university community. Sessions typically include interactive workshops, tours, and important addresses by university officials, faculty members, and guest speakers. The postponement was expected to impact the thousands of new students who were preparing to attend the event.
