How To Calculate LASU Aggregate Score 2024/2025 Academic Session

If you are looking for accurate information as to how to calculate Lagos State University, LASU aggregate score or aggregate cut off mark, then you are on the right page.

Firstly and foremost, we should define what an aggregate cut off mark or score is? An aggregate cut off mark is the total score a candidate has after combining JAMB and Post UTME scores. For some universities, you would have to combine more than just JAMB and post UTME but your O’Level grades as well.

Knowing your aggregate score is very important as this will determine if you are eligible for admission into the university. Your aggregate score should meet up with the departmental cut off mark of the course you wish to study before you will be allowed to study the course in Lagos State University.

How To Calculate LASU Aggregate Score 2024/2025 Academic Session

It is very easy to calculate LASU aggregate cut off mark as the university uses a formula similar to that of most universities. LASU uses a 50:50 system, where your JAMB represents 50% while your O’level result represents 50% making it a total of 100%.

However, if you are able to perform really well in your post UTME you would find yourself having a really high aggregate score regardless of how you perform in your JAMB. This is because LASU prioritizes its UTME and O’level results.

To calculate LASU aggregate score, you would need to know your JAMB and O’level results. Once you have that information handy, you can go ahead and use the calculation procedure below.

JAMB UTME is made up of 400 marks while LASU post UTME is made 100 marks.

Let’s assume that a candidate Miss Rose applying to study in Lagos State University has a JAMB score of 250 and an O’level result calculation of 30 out of 50. To calculate his aggregate score;

JAMB score = 250 / 8 = 31.25

O’level result = 30

Total = 31.25(JAMB) + 30(O’level result) = 61.25

Miss Rose’s aggregate score will be 61.25.

Why it’s Important to Calculate LASU Aggregate Score?

It is important that you know how to calculate LASU’s aggregate score as this will determine whether or not you are eligible for admission. This is because your aggregate score will be compared with the departmental cut off mark of the course you wish to study.

If you are unable to meet up with the departmental cut off mark you will not be considered for admission or pushed to other departments with lower cut off marks so we usually advice students to do a change of course.

To ensure you get admitted to study the course of your choice, you would have to reach or surpass the departmental cut off mark. However, it is advisable you surpass the departmental cut off mark, especially if you are going for a competitive course.

LASU JAMB Cut Off Mark

JAMB releases an official cut off mark which every university must adhere to. However, some universities have a different cut off mark for different courses. This is based on the competitiveness and difficulty of the course. While LASU’s general cut off mark is around 195, you would want to score higher to ensure that you end up with a good aggregate score.

Scoring below the cut off mark for your selected course doesn’t mean you will not be eligible for admission as long as you don’t score below 195. However, scoring anything below the stated cut off marks means you will have to score extremely high in your Post UTME to ensure that you end up with a good aggregate score that would meet up with the departmental cut off mark.
