Auchi Polytechnic To Be Converted A Full Fledged University

This news if coming from one Mr Victor Okhaimo, President of Auchi Polytechnic Alumina Association, he stated in clear terms that Polytechnic would soon become a degree awarding institution, That is, the school would have the power to award B.Sc, B.Engr and other degree certificate. He revealed that the bill to covert Auchi Polytechnic to a full time degree awarding institution has passed its third reading both in the Houses of Representative and the National Assembly.

According to him, the bill was awaiting the President’s assent, Mr Victor also opined that Auchi Polytechnic which is regarded as a premium Polytechnic in Nigeria would in no time be referred as a University of Technology.

The current President of Auchi Polytechnic Alumina Association also added that the Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State would soon mark its 36th anniversary, adding that the institution has three campuses with very good learning facilities to assume a University status.

Mr Okhaimo further added, that the association under his administration is contributing its quota to the development of the institution, and that the association was reaching out to past students of Auchi polytechnic who are well placed in the society for financial assistance poised towards the  development of the Polytechnic.

Lastly, he said the Association was collaborating with FONPA (Forum of Nigeria Polytechnic Alumina Association), in his words “we are playing a lot of roles to see that the HND/Bsc dichotomy is wiped out.” Hence all hands must be on deck.
