Akwa Ibom State University is one of the most sought after universities in the South South region and as expected, admission into this institution is by merit. To gain admission into AKSU, the following obligations must be met.
1)You must have your complete O’level results as awaiting results are not accepted.
2) You must select AKSU as your first choice of university during JAMB registration and scoring at least 140 and above which is the minimum required cut off mark for gaining admission into Akwa Ibom State University.
The management of Akwa Ibom State University wishes to inform all prospective candidates that the JAMB official cut off mark for AKSU for 2025/2026 academic session has been released by the school authority. Candidates who initially did not select AKSU as their first choice will be required to effect a change of course and institution form via the approved JAMB CBT Centre closest to you.
All candidate that chose AKSU during the 2025/2026 UTME are to confirm via the list if they score up to the minimum required cut off mark.
Warning!!! scoring up to AKSU JAMB cut off mark does not guarantee any candidate automatic admission into the university, as internal screen would be carried out by the school authority and upon crossing that stage, you would be admitted into the university.
Important Note:Â Kindly be informed that passing the approved JAMB cut off mark and post UTME screening exercise is not enough, candidates must meet the required cut off point for the course being applied for before admission can be given. AKSU UTME Admission Requirements
(i)Â Admission into the Akwa Ibom State University shall be through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry.
In addition to attaining the general required standard in UTME, candidates must satisfy the general University requirements as well as the specific Faculty and Programmes requirements.
Note: All admissions shall be through JAMB.
(ii)Â The candidate must be over 16 years of age by 1st October in the year of admission.
(iii)Â Candidates must possess at least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
(iv)Â Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
Direct Entry Requirements
Candidates for Direct Entry admission must possess any of the following qualifications:
(i)Â Two (2) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in three (3) other subjects, including English Language at GCE (O/L), WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
(ii)Â Three (3) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit passes in two (2) other subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.
(iii)Â Two (2) passes at merit level or above in two (2) recognized NCE, OND, HND subjects or approved equivalents and at least 3 credit passes in other subjects including English Language at GCE O/L WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
Other Admission Requirements
(i)Â A pass in general paper at HSC or approved equivalents would not be accepted as a substitute for a credit pass in English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
