Academic Master’s Degree programmes
A candidate seeking admission into the Academic Master’s Degree programmes must hold:

- A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of 2.50 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00 of Bayero University, or any other recognized University (provided the matriculation requirement is satisfied) in the relevant area; or
- A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of 2.40 – 2.49 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00 of Bayero University or any other recognized university plus a postgraduate diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 (Merit) on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00 (provided the matriculation requirement is satisfied) in the relevant area; or
- A minimum of Third Class Bachelor’s Degree plus a postgraduate Diploma passed at Credit level from Bayero University, Kano, and a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00 from any other recognized university (provided the matriculation requirement is satisfied) in the relevant area; or
- A postgraduate Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00 and an HND with Credit from any recognized institution; or
- Any other qualifications deemed by the Board of the College of Postgraduate Studies and Senate to be equivalent to (i), (ii), and (iii) above.

- An Academic Master’s degree of Bayero University or any other recognized University and satisfy the conditions in (i) to (iv) of 1 (a) above; or
- The CGPA of the Master’s program should be at least 3.00 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00.
- A Ph.D candidate who satisfies all admission requirements except the CGPA can be considered for admission into MPhil./Ph.D programs provided the CGPA is at least 2.75 on a scale of 0.00 – 5.00
- An MPhil/Ph.D candidate can be upgraded to Ph.D if he earns a CGPA of at least 3.00 on a scale of 5.00 in the course work and a grade of C+ in the proposal.
How to Apply for ABU Postgraduate Admission Form.
Step 1: Click on the Create Account on the left navigation menu to go to the Create an Account Page. At the Create an Account page, create an account by providing your First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Personal Email and Personal GSM Phone Number. Click on Generate Password button to generate a password, repeat the generated password on the Repeat Password field. Click on the Create button to create your application account. A username will be automatically generated for you
Please take note of your login credentials (username and password), as you need them for subsequent steps of the application process. Use Login on the left navigation panel to login to your account (using your login credentials) to start/continue your application process.
Step 2: Return to the Login Page and login with your username and password to fill in the Application Forms:
- Programme Selection
- Personal Data
- Qualifications
- Employment Information
- Transcript Request
Review all your forms to ensure accuracy of all information before submission. You can save your information at any time and continue with the application process at a later time.
Step 3: Generate your BUK Personalised Payment Form (BUKPPF). The BUKPPF includes information need to make payment through the Remita e-Payments platform.
Step 4: After successfully generated BUKPPF and using the Remita e-Payments platform a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) number is generated for you. The RRR uniquely ties your payment to your application account, after obtaining your RRR, login to your application account and submit the RRR used for payment. Note that submitting the RRR in the application portal is not tied to your actual payment.
Step 5: Print an Acknowledgement Slip and keep it safe. The slip will be needed during the collection of admission letter and during registration.

ABU PG Admission Form Closing Date
The management has announced that ABU postgraduate admission form closing date is Sunday 1st of February 2026. All interested candidates are expected to apply before the closing date as there shall be no extension for submission of deadline.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- THE COST OF EACH APPLICATION FORM IS TEN THOUSAND NAIRA (N10,000.00) ONLY AND BANK CHARGES OF FIVE HUNDRED NAIRA (N500.00) ONLY.
- THE DURATION OF THE SALE OF APPLICATION FORMS AND SUBMISSION IS FROM 5™ AUGUST, 2026 TO 4th OCTOBER, 2026.
- Ph.D. APPLICANTS MUST UPLOAD A PROPOSAL AND ALSO MAKE A HARD COPY AVAILABLE TO BE SENT BY POST TO THE HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF WHERE THE PROGRAMMED DOMICILED.
- THE PHONE NUMBERS AND E-MAIL ADDRESSES OF THE APPLICANT SHOULD REFLECT IN THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.
- PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THE BASIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS OF FIVE O’LEVEL CREDITS INCLUDING ENGLISH AND OR MATHEMATICS IN NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.
