Ideally, Study centers consist of rooms, offices and lecture halls in a building that are only occasionally staffed, it may be a campus with a number of purpose-designed buildings, permanently staffed for specialist teaching, technical, and administrative purposes, and open most days and times during the week or sometimes permanently open for lectures and other academic and non-academic activities.
NOUN is regarded as the largest university in Nigeria, not in terms of landmass but population of students that apply for admission yearly. To meet up the increase in the number of students who gain admission every academic session the Federal Ministry of Education through the Nigerian University Commission give approvals for NOUN study centers to be established and set up with adequate learning facilities.
There are currently 76 NOUN approved study centers In Nigeria, you could confirm this via their official website and as for candidates who are residents of Lagos state, new study centres are sprouting up in order to meet the teeming population of students, kindly note that more recognition is given to Lagos study centers due to the number of application forms being received from candidates who reside within the state and adding to the fact that NOUN headquarter is sited with Lagos Island area of Lagos state.
Please note that these study centres are not just meant for receiving lectures only as that is the general idea about study centers in Nigeria, some study centers are becoming autonomous, for example, admission and other academic activities can be carried out, the study centres have offices for lay complaints from students, bursary units, offices of HODs and other offices for academic and non-academic staff.
